“Time for Biden to resign”- Trump after Taliban takeover of Afghanistan

Calling out Biden allegedly “illegitimate” election win and his decision to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan that eventually led to the Taliban’s victory, former US President Donald Trump demanded the Democratic to resign from his position.

The statement came on Sunday after Afghanistan crumbled and fell into the clutches of the Taliban almost 90 days before the predicted time frame of the US Intelligence. The surge in the capture shook the United States, a top official said. This has triggered it to evacuate American citizens and embassy staff from the country.

Referring to the 2020’s Presidential elections where Trump lost to his now successor Joe Biden, the ex-President continued his stance of terming it a “fraud” election and said, “It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan… It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place.”

Furthermore, he called the troops withdrawal “one of the greatest defeats in American history”, though his April 2020’s statement said otherwise. “Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do”, Trump had said earlier.

However, yesterday he said, “What Joe Biden has done with Afghanistan is legendary. It will go down as one of the greatest defeats in American history!”

Speaking about the sudden advancement of Taliban forces into Afghanistan’s Presidential Palace and things changing rapidly, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, “We’ve seen that that force has been unable to defend the country, and that has happened more quickly than we anticipated.” He was referring to the Afghan troops that fell weak to the Taliban, though one Afghani soldier said on a call that he wasn’t a “coward” and had been told to be prepared for backing off from opening fire on the Taliban months back.

Withdrawing troops from Afghanistan was Trump’s decision made during his term and continued by Joe Biden. The move was inked on paper after a deal was signed between the US and the armed group with conditions of security guarantees. Biden set a deadline of August 31st to complete the act that was in place for the past 20 years.

“When I became President, I faced a choice—follow through on the deal, with a brief extension to get our Forces and our allies’ Forces out safely, or ramp up our presence and send more American troops to fight once again in another country’s civil conflict,” the President defended his decision.

The current situation in Afghanistan has left several top leaders worried as the world witnesses a never-before scene of the US embassy being evacuated. “In fact, you just had President Biden a few days ago saying you wouldn’t see helicopters evacuating the embassy like Saigon, and yet here we are,” said Republican congressman and House minority whip Steve Scalise while others are calling Biden’s move “predictable”.
