Around 2 am, approximately 700 Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) personnel reportedly stormed the dam through the left main gates on the right bank, sparking a clash with Telangana State Special Forces (TSSF) personnel stationed to guard the dam. The confrontation injured some Telangana policemen as the APSP took control of the dam up to the 13th gate, erecting fencing at the site.

The situation escalated as the AP policemen damaged CCTV cameras set up for security at the gate. Telangana State Special Forces personnel promptly reported the incident to higher authorities, leaving the atmosphere tense at the dam.

This incident mirrors a previous clash on February 13, 2015, when Andhra Pradesh police attempted a similar incursion onto the dam. During that episode, Telangana’s greyhound teams were swiftly deployed to the scene, leading to a confrontation.

As tensions escalate once again, the territorial dispute over the Nagarjuna Sagar dam raises concerns about the need for diplomatic resolution and collaborative efforts to maintain security in the region. Authorities are expected to address the issue and prevent further escalation in the ongoing standoff.
