Unseasonal Winter Rain Disrupts Life and Raises Health Concerns in Hyderabad

Unseasonal rainfall during the winter season has become a topic of discussion in Telangana and its capital, Hyderabad. The unexpected showers during the Christmas holidays have created mixed reactions among the city’s residents. While holidaymakers enjoyed the pleasant change in weather, those involved in business and work activities faced various challenges.

Hyderabad, which has been in a festive holiday mode since yesterday, recorded light to heavy rainfall starting this morning. Light drizzle was observed in areas such as Rasoolpura, Bowenpally, Paradise, Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, Mehdipatnam, Toli Chowki, Nampally, Abids, Afzalgunj, Charminar, Shah Ali Banda, Chandrayangutta, and Barkas. By the afternoon, several parts of the city experienced heavier downpours.

On the one hand, the unseasonal rain brought some relief by reducing the cold wave in the region. However, it also raised public health concerns, opening the door to various illnesses. Many residents in Hyderabad reported complaints of cold, headaches, fever, throat pain, body aches, and nausea, which are likely triggered by the sudden weather change.

Street vendors and small-scale entrepreneurs relying on footpaths and pushcarts for their livelihood faced significant disruptions due to the rain. Waterlogged streets further compounded their difficulties, impacting daily earnings.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that weather conditions will stabilize in the next two days. However, it has also issued an advisory urging people to take preventive measures against diseases in light of health experts’ warnings.

As the city continues to navigate the challenges of this unexpected weather, residents are being advised to stay cautious and prioritize their health amidst the shifting seasonal patterns.
