Upcoming Heavy Rains in Telangana: IMD Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has projected that heavy rains will return to Telangana.

Thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls are anticipated to hit Telangana on August 18 and 19, 2023, according to the weather forecast. The state has been given a yellow alert for both Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has forecast light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers across the state during the next three days.

For Hyderabad, the agency predicts light rain or thundershowers in isolated areas for the same time period.

Yesterday, Khammam district in Telangana received the most rainfall in Telangana, measuring 70.3 mm, while Shaikpet in Hyderabad received the most rainfall within the city, reaching 12.3 mm.

Telangana has received an unusually large amount of rain during monsoon season. The average rainfall in the state has been 582.4 mm, compared to the usual amount of 466.9 mm. Siddipet district had the largest divergence, at 65%.

The current monsoon season’s cumulative rainfall in Hyderabad is 450.1 mm, compared to an average of 363.3 mm. The Maredpally and Charminar areas have the biggest divergence of 49 percent.

Despite the fact that it is an El Nio year, some areas in Telangana have received above-average rainfall.
