Will hold races in Hyderabad without causing ‘traffic issues’ once in power: BJP

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay said on Saturday that his party’s government would hold races in the city without causing “traffic problems” for regular citizens.

“What is the need of conducting such races in the middle of the city leading to massive trouble for commuters? Is it fair to block all the roads around the necklace road, IMAX, and secretariat? Who will take responsibility for all the troubles that people are facing due to this decision? TRS leaders have encroached on thousands of acres outside the city. These races should have been held there,” Sanjay remarked.

Sanjay stated that the BJP is not opposed to such races, but that the government must be transparent about the funds spent on them. “These races should be conducted with international standards and no traffic issues,” he said.

Hyderabad: Removal of trees for Formula E race upsets citizens; govt defends act

Telangana MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao kicked off the inaugural Indian Racing League on Saturday at the Hyderabad Street Circuit on the banks of the Hussain Sagar lake.

As a precursor to the Formula E race, the HMDA, in collaboration with the Indian Racing League (IRL), organized two races to test the track’s readiness for the big event in February.

The Indian Racing League, a five-city race, is the world’s first of its kind and is being held in Hyderabad for the first time.

It is a Formula-3 equivalent, a single-seater motor racing championship in which the drivers compete in single-seater cars built by Italian constructor Wolf Racing using Aprilia engines, HMDA stated on Friday.

To clear up any confusion, HMDA stated in a press release that the IRL is being held on the same tracks that will be used for Formula E races next year, and that the trial races this weekend will aid in the preparation of the tracks for future races.
