Back to School- Govt issues schedule of online and DTH classes for all grades

After the issuance of the notice regarding the commencement of online classes for all classes, the State govt of Telangana has made available the list of the time allotted to each class per day along with the specific role of every personality involved in executing the planned schedule.

As for the students studying in playschool, kindergarten and nursery and pre-school shall need to attend classes for a maximum of 3 days in a week with one class per day lasting for 45 minutes. The timetable mentions the mandatory presence of a parent-supervisor during these classes for the student’s benefit. The rest of the classes have to follow the Alternative Academic Calendar issued by the SCERT.

For classes 1-12, digital classes will be conducted for up to 5 days a week. The difference here is in the number of classes being taken up each day as every session to lasts for the same time, 30-45mins.

Classes 1-5 have two daily sessions while classes 6-8 have three and the higher classes 9-12 need to attend 4 sessions per day.

The notice also took into consideration the students who do not have access to TVs, smartphones, and other gadgets to attend their classes. As such, these students, with the help of the Head Masters of the schools, the local village panchayats can be reached out to for assistance or will be paired with other students who have the resources.

As far as the worksheets and study books are concerned, the government has given the headmasters the responsibility to make sure that every student gets a hold of them. For 4 weeks from now, the worksheets made by the SCERT shall be followed, after which the schools or teachers can formulate their own worksheets and ensure that it reaches all students.

After the issuance of the notice of govt, Teachers and Principals are required to attend school every day from August 27th, four days prior to the start of the online classes. The education providers will need to design their classes based on the categorization of students who have smartphones, those who have TVs, and the others who don’t have access to either.

Moreover, they shall be needed to be available to students for answering all their questions relating to the classes and the lessons taught through social media, phones, and other modes.

The notice has also urged parents to ascertain that their children attend the classes regularly and supervise them during the sessions.

DEOs (District Educational Officer) and MEOs(Mandal Educational Officers) are given the role of ensuring that the power supply remains uninterrupted to avoid any hindrance in the students’ education. Furthermore, DEOs are asked to contact the DTH and broadcast providers to serve the transmission of the classes on the television sets and maintain the continuity in connection.

For the students availing classes through Doordarshan or T-SAT, classes 3-5 will have 1.5 hr sessions each day, classes 6-8 need to attend lessons for 2 hours per day, and classes 9-10 will have 3 hours class every day.

With the admission process too given the green signal, the same for classes 1-6 for the academic year 2020-2021 can be kickstarted, however with the compliance to all social distancing and safety norms. Students aren’t needed to accompany parents in the procedure to keep them protected.

The notice further reads that children of migrant workers, out-of-school kids, and Children with Special Needs will be identified and enrolled in schools to receive their education.
