BJP MP Pragya Thakur Criticizes Owaisi Over new criminal law

BJP MP Pragya Thakur, during a debate in the Lok Sabha on the Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, criticized the colonial-era criminal laws.

Thakur stated that she and other sadhus or sanyasis had suffered due to these laws and slammed the previous Congress governments for lacking the willpower to bring about change for justice.

Thakur emphasized the importance of “apna desh” (our country), “apna kanoon” (our law), and “apna anushasan” (our discipline) for proper development. She commended the new bills, asserting that only a patriot had the courage to bring them. Thakur accused the British of instilling a slave mentality by naming the Indian Penal Code and claimed that Congress and other governments in power for 65 years lacked the willpower and commitment to change colonial-era laws.
