Comedian Bharti Singh and husband taken by NCB for questioning after raid

Amidst the drugs consumption case going on in the entertainment industry since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the name of another person from the industry has come in the spotlight.

Popular comedian Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa, her husband, have been taken for interrogation by the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) officials following a raid in their home today.

According to sources in the agency, the comedian and her husband have been facing allegations of consuming the illegal commodities.

A video surfaced, showing the area outside Ms. Bharti’s apartment, where she resides with her husband. In the visuals, Mr. Harsh can be seen being taken away in a white van, belonging to the agency as Ms. Bharti follows the van in a red Mercedes car after the completion of the search in their house.

The probes and calls for interrogation are a part of the ongoing investigation that started post the suicide of Mr. Rajput. His death opened the case of drug consumption by many of the Bollywood industry. Probing began with the text exchange recovery from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone that mentioned purchase of drugs for the late actor. The actress’s brother was also arrested.

In view of the same, several actors have been called till now by the NCB for inquiring into the matter including actor Arjun Rampal who was summoned earlier this month following a raid at his home.

The actor’s girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades was also called in for questioning on two consecutive days, each interrogation period lasting for 6 hours.

While leaving the agency after his own 6 hour long questioning last week, Mr. Rampal cleared that the materials found at his home by the officials of NCB were prescribed medicines.

Speaking about his cooperation and support in the case, Mr. Rampal told the media that he has “nothing to do with drugs” and the “prescription has been handed over” to the agency.

Earlier, Ms. Demetriades’s brother, Agisiaslos Demetriades, was arrested in the drugs case. The South African citizen, who is currently under the agency’s custody, had named a certain Paul Bartel. This Australian architect was then arrested by the NCB as he was allegedly told to be a drug supplier.

Mr. Bartel, however, was released on bail on Thursday as the special court said there was no “substantial material” against him to prove his acts

The NCB had also called in Firoz Nadiadwala, though sources say that he dint summon for it. Nevertheless, the agency arrested his wife, Shabana Saeed on the next day after the officials alleged found 10gms of marijuana in their Juhu home during a search in Mumbai.

The raid was in view of the emerging of Ms. Saeed’s name in the clients’ list of a drug peddler, Wahid Abdul Khadir Shaikh. The alleged banned commodities peddler was arrested from Andheri, a few days prior to Ms. Saeed’s arrest. The purchase of contraband from the supplier led the officials to the woman.

The past few months have been hard on the film industry as a number of actors have been interrogated including Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and some others.

According to the NCB, the efforts being made are to uncover the drug racket in Bollywood’s celebrities.
