It’s almost two years, for now, the Erra Kunta beautification works that begins in the year 2019, has remain in limbo. Though the irrigation officials made tall claims that the works will be completed as per the schedule, nothing has been witnessed on the ground even after two years as much of the Rs.60 Lakhs project works is still moving with a snail pace.
The Erra Kunta Lake at Laxmiguda under Rajendranagar spreads around 8 acres with 4 acres of water spread area as per the official record. This lake stands close to another lake called Bulbul Kunta that spreads over an area of 4 acres in the same Laxmiguda locality while Marshabai Kunta, Noor Mohammed Kunta, Suleman Kunta and Palle Cheruvu are the other four lakes of a same water channel that drives through neighbouring Kattedan area.

Around 900 meters of fencing and 200 meters of walking track have been proposed under Erra Kunta Lake Beautification project of which only 40 percent works have been completed so far while major part of the works are still pending.
When contacted, the irrigation official reluctantly provided half baked info about the beautification saying that the Rs.60 lakh project is now moving ahead. “Though nearly 40 percent of the project has been done so far, the remaining works will be completed in next two month. The fencing works have almost completed and land filling has been taken up for walking track around the lake,” the official informed.

Affirming that the works have got delayed due to some local issues, he said, “Much of the hurdles in the way of executing the project have been cleared and the works are going on seamlessly. If everything goes accordingly and the works move on a similar pace, the entire project will be concluded by next two month,” he asserted.
The project has already consumed much time to reach this point after it was first grounded two years back. Earlier it was claimed by the officials that the project will be completed on war footing to facilitate the people with a beautiful lake featuring walking track and greenery. However, despite the claims not more than 40 percent works have been completed so far while only fencing works could be seen standing around the lake that take almost two years to complete,” rued N.Venkatesh, a local resident.
