GHMC Elections: KTR, Kishan Reddy, Owaisi Cast Votes

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao, Union Minister of State G. Kishan Reddy and MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi were amongst the leaders who cast their vote in the initial hour in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections on Tuesday.

Rama Rao, who directed the ruling party in the campaign and his spouse exercised their franchise at  Banjara Hills’s Nandinagar polling station.

Speaking on the event, the state municipal administration minister urged to all voters to cast their votes.

In an attempt to appeal to voters to come out and vote, he said that in a democracy only those who cast their votes will have the right to question.

The son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Rama Rao, asked voters to partake in voting. He said think before voting what kind of public representatives you want for the development of Hyderabad.

Kishan Reddy and spouse cast their votes at the polling booth in Kachiguda. The union minister appealed to all voters to exercise their right to franchise.

Kishan Reddy, who is a member of Parliament from Secunderabad, stated: “In the Constitution drafted by Dr B. R. Ambedkar, from President of the nation to an ordinary citizen everybody has a right to vote. Everyone should use this important weapon. The public should not simply complain about governments not working properly but should use their constitutional right to assure that they elect good public representatives.”

BJP OBC Morcha president K. Laxman went to a polling centre in Chikkadpalli to put in his vote.

Asaduddin Owaisi, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and Hyderabad MP, put in his vote at the old city’s Shastrippuram. He said: I exercised my right to vote. I am requesting to everyone to come out and use their voting right for the development of the city, especially old city and for protecting the city’s composite culture, heritage and language.

Owaisi encouraged voters to come out and vote to expand the polling percentage and strengthen democracy.
