On Wednesday, a police constable was arrested for allegedly threatening and sexually assaulting a woman.
The constable from the Special Branch of Hyderabad Police and the woman who had been his neighbor in Saidabad for the past eight years developed “intimacy,” according to police.
However, the woman filed a complaint against the constable in February 2021, after which a case was filed against him under relevant Indian Penal Code sections and he was suspended from the department, according to an official at Meerpet police station. He was reinstated in the department about six months ago.
According to the woman’s complaint, the constable went to her house in August this year and threatened her that he would upload some videos of her on social media that he had previously taken and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
On November 14, the constable returned to the woman’s home and attempted to molest her again, but she resisted.
The woman filed a complaint against the constable, and a case was booked against him, the official said.

Police inspector arrested for abusing and assaulting cop
Earlier this month, a police inspector working with the Hyderabad Police was arrested by the Vanasthalipuram police on charges of abusing and assaulting a cop on duty.
The inspector currently assigned to the South Zone Control Room is accused by his wife of having an extramarital affair with another woman.
His wife allegedly caught him red-handed with another woman in a car on a Thursday night. She called the Vanasthalipuram police, who arrived on the scene.
During this time, the inspector allegedly picked up an argument with a police constable on duty and assaulted him.
It was reported that while the couple worked out a compromise among themselves, a case of assault was booked.
