Hyderabad to house GHASL and Schneider manufacturing unit

The GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd (GHASL), a 100 percent subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), and Schneider Electric, a pioneer in energy management and automation, have signed an agreement for the construction and leasing of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at the GMR Industrial Park in Hyderabad.

The agreement provides for GHASL to build the facility on 18 acres in a non-SEZ area and lease it to Schneider Electric.

“We are delighted to partner with Schneider Electric which shares our belief in the need for specialized infrastructure to support industrial growth in the nation,” said Aman Kapoor, CEO, GMR Group.

With more global industrial players interested in setting up manufacturing facilities in India, this partnership will contribute to “Make-in-India” and attract more players to leverage the GMR Hyderabad AeroCity’s facilities and capabilities, he added.

Kapoor explained that his team continuously strives to ensure that all his partners have a conducive and stimulating work environment so that they can focus on their core businesses.

A two-phased rollout will take place for the facility. According to a press release here on Thursday, the manufacturing facility spread over 2 lakh square feet in the first phase, will be operational by June 2023. Additionally, the facility will be expanded by 1.75 lakh square feet in the second phase.

“We are delighted to work with the Government of Telangana and GMR to build this world-class facility at the Hyderabad Airport Industrial Park,” said Javed Ahmad, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, International region, Schneider Electric. This project will serve as a benchmark for both Schneider Electric and GMR, globally, since GMR has experience in building large infrastructure projects, he added.

Taking advantage of GMR Group’s experience in infrastructure development, GHASL has developed ‘GMR Industrial Park’, a ready-to-use infrastructure that delivers convenience to its customers. Due to its location within Hyderabad International Airport, the Park enjoys greater security, uninterrupted power and water supplies, and reliable IT infrastructure.

In addition, the Park has access to a complete Airport ecosystem, including a 5* hotel, F&B, medical facilities, rental accommodation, and reliable and affordable transportation. There is a dedicated Municipal Body for Airport-related building plan approvals at the Park, Ahmad said.

Businesses serving foreign markets can choose land within the Multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) or within the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) at GMR Industrial Park.

It is also home to India’s first and only Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) within the SEZ. With robust air, rail, and seaport connections, it is well connected. Additionally, an operational runway is available for the final assembly line and testing requirements for planes, UAVs, and helicopters.
