Amidst a shocking incident, a teenager dumped her baby after getting raped and impregnated by a 60-year-old man. The 16-year-old raped survivor was made to go through the ordeal eight to nine months back due to which she got pregnant. To prevent others from knowing this as she was scared, the girl delivered the baby boy on the terrace of her house and dumped him.
The incident is from Burari of northern Delhi and was brought to light on December 31st. The teenager, after delivering the baby all alone, wrapped him in a cloth and a plastic bag, tied a rope around him, and lowered the boy from her terrace to avoid taking him from inside the house. She then picked the baby and dumped him in a garbage bin situated at a distance from her house before escaping the area.
The baby’s existence and the whole case was known when some locals found a newborn baby in a trash bin. They immediately informed the police through a PCR call. Upon finding the baby, the cops shifted the boy to a nearby hospital for stabilizing him.
As no one knew about the parents of the baby, the police went through the surveillance video of the region to be able to find the culprits.
A senior police officer said regarding the case, “We received information on Saturday night regarding the infant. Police reached the spot and rushed the baby to a hospital. When we checked the CCTV footage of the area, the baby was found with a girl.”
When the CCTV was scanned, they found a raped survivor girl carrying something wrapped in a bundle of cloth and dumping it in the bin. The footage helped them identify and trace the teenager who was initially reluctant to share the gruesome incident that happened with her. After asking her calmly several times, she finally told that she was raped about eight to nine months ago by a 60-year-old man. She did not tell her mother or anyone else about this as she was scared. The 16-year-old added that to hide the entire ordeal, she dumped the newborn, covered in a cloth, in an area away from her home.
The police checked the terrace of the raped survivor girl where she said she had delivered the baby. They found blood in the area which coincided with the teenager’s story and verified it.
The victim resides with her mother who is a domestic house worker. Following the girl’s complaint, the police booked the accused under sections of rape. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was slammed on the pedophile old man and thrown behind the bars after taking under arrest.
deputy commissioner of Police (north) Anto Alphonse said, “We have arrested the 60-year-old man after a case was registered on the girl’s complaint. Further investigations in the case are on.”
The accused is a grocery shop keeper and belongs to the same locality. The identity of the minor girl and her family has not been revealed because of this.
When spoken to the mother of the victim, she said that she had no idea about the entire rape, pregnancy, and delivery atrocity. However, the mother said she had observed a few changes in the teen’s body but upon asking, her daughter didn’t share the incident and dismissed it as something else.
