“Owaisi helped BJP in Bihar elections and will help us in UP too”- Sakshi Maharaj

After Mamata Banerjee’s recent dig at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi indirectly accusing him of taking money from the BJP to the Muslim votes, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj of Unnao topped the viral list of claims by alleging that Mr. Owaisi had helped his party during the Bihar Assembly Elections and that he will continue giving his support to BJP in the upcoming West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh’s elections as well.

With AIMIM in conjunction with BJP, the latter will win both states, he said. The Maharaj told reporters, “It is God’s grace. May God give him strength. He helped us in Bihar and will help us (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh panchayat and Assembly polls and also in West Bengal.”

Interestingly, Mr. Owaisi’s party has been tagged as BJP’s ‘B’ team for quite some time now as AIMIM is known to garner votes on account of religious stances.

Nevertheless, the chief has continued to reject the accusations and the label pressed on his party by denying any alliance with BJP in terms of helping it succeed.

In December, when Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP is spending crores to bring a Muslim party from Hyderabad to help it in the Bengal elections, it was clear whom she was indicating.

Mr. Owaisi was quick to retaliate and put a strong message saying, “Never was a man born who can buy Asaduddin Owaisi with money.” He further tweeted, “So far you’ve only dealt with obedient Mir Jaffers and Sadiq’s. You don’t like Muslims who think and speak for themselves. You’ve insulted our voters in Bihar. Remember what happened to parties in Bihar that kept blaming their failures on ‘vote cutters. Muslim voters aren’t your jagir (property).”

The AIMIM chief stood in Bihar’s elections of 2020 where he dug into the Muslim votes, leaving no chance for the opposition to secure the votes, ultimately resulting in NDA’s win.

Seemanchal, the area heavily populated by Muslims, presented 5 seats to Mr. Owaisi, coming as a big figure when compared to NDA who scored only 15 seats more than the Grand Alliance.

Consequently, he was tagged as the ‘B Team of BJP’ by competitor parties Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal.

However, Mr. Owaisi made a fresh move after he announced his interest to contest in Uttar Pradesh for its future state elections. His party will join former BJP ally Om Prakash Rajbhar for the same.

With UP elections scheduled for next year, he has already starting progressing towards his goal as he visited a few east Uttar Pradesh districts on Tuesday with Rajbhar on his side.
