Take action against erring private hospitals: High court

Hyderabad: Dealing with another batch of PILs filed against exorbitant charges being collected by various private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment, the Telangana High Court directed the state government to take action as per law against private hospitals which not following the government guidelines and orders with regard to a fee to be collected from patients

The High Court ordered that the private hospitals have to display the rates to be charged for treatment. The court also directed the state to take action against the private hospitals which took land from the government and failed to provide free treatment to poor people. Besides, the court directed the government to set up a grievance cell headed by the state chief secretary to monitor COVID-19 treatment. The court directed the state to submit a report on the implementation of court orders by September 4.

Earlier on 10th August Minister of MA&UD, Industries, and IT&C KTR has alert the private hospitals against charging patients with heavy bills.

KTR also mentions that state government had already taken action on such hospitals and will not be a delay to move against more private Hospitals he also said that people should understand that government hospitals are providing good and better service For COVID-19.
