Temps dip below 10 degrees Celsius as cold wave grips Telangana

Telangana is experiencing a cold wave, with some areas of the state recording minimum temperatures of less than 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtiyal, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, and Sangareddy districts have received an orange-code warning from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Sirpur (U) in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district was the coldest on Sunday, with a low temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius. Satwar in Sangareddy had a low temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Telangana State Planning Development Society, the temperature in Ramalakshmanpalle in Kamareddy district dropped to 7.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Nyalkal (8.1 degrees Celsius), Marpalle (8.2 degrees Celsius), Neradigonda (8.3 degrees Celsius), Kotgiri (8.3 degrees Celsius), and Bela (8.3 degrees Celsius) (8.3-degree Celsius).

The lowest temperature in Greater Hyderabad was 11.7 degrees Celsius in Patancheru. It is worth mentioning that the drop in temperature was attributed by the Met Office to cold winds blowing from North and Northeast India.

Even during the day, the chill in the wind was felt in areas on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

According to the IMD, the minimum temperature in isolated areas of Telangana’s northern districts is likely to be 2-4 degrees below normal.

Over the next two days, the forecast calls for light to moderate rain or thundershowers in isolated areas of the southern districts.

It was also reported that last month was the coldest October in a decade in Hyderabad as the temperature in the month had dropped to 14.9 degrees Celsius.

Rajendranagar has witnessed the lowest temperature in the month in the city. The reason behind the chilly weather was said to be northerly winds and the passage of cyclone Sitrang.

In December, the minimum temperature in Hyderabad usually drops significantly.
