1.54 Crore People Screened under ‘Kanti Velugu’

Hyderabad : More than 1.54 crore people have availed the eye screening facility  through the prestigious ‘Kanti Velugu’ programme launched by the Telangana state Government.  So far, the programme was conducted in 9,732 villages and  887 wards in Municipal areas.

Of the people screened, 22,83,739 people were provided with free reading glasses, while another 18,06,197 were prescribed special spectacles.  Another 9,28, 417 were referred for surgeries and treatment at different eye Hospitals.

On Thursday alone. 11,374 people were screened, and out of them 674 were provided with free reading glasses.  Another 666 were referred for special spectacles, while another 394 were recommended for surgeries and treatment at hospitals.  (NSS).
