16 arrested Indian students get relief in court

Hyderabad: The 16 Indian students, who were arrested in Farmington Hills University in the US, have got the much-needed relief in a local court. The court has allowed the arrested students to return to India before February 26, 2019. Of the 20 students, including Indians, three including one Palestinian, have already got permission to leave the country. The final hearing in the case was held in February 12.

A total of 20 students were arrested in the case. Of this, 12 were kept at Kelahon County jail and the remaining eight were kept at Manro County Jail. Of the remaining 17 arrested students, 15 were allowed to return to their home country. Of this, eight students are Telugus.

The American Telangana Association has urged the Immigration department to make arrangements for the immediate return of the students. The students will have to inform the jail authorities in advance about their return to India paving the way for the jail authorities to transport the victims to airport directly. (NSS)
