29,484, including 191 women booked for drunk and drive in 2018

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police was continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety. During the year 2018, cases were booked against 29,484 drunken drivers, including 191 women.  27,383 charge sheets were filed against them and were produced in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.

In this regard, the Metropolitan Magistrate Courts awarded imprisonment to 5,441 accused and Permanently Cancelled / Suspended Driving licenses of 1,424 persons. The Courts realized a fine amount of Rs 5,88,99,500  from the remaining 25,959 Traffic violators. All the candidates who are sentenced for imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda Jail. In the year 2017, (20811) cases were booked and (4015) were convicted and 203 D.Ls were suspended.

The convicts were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive against the drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road. (NSS)
