35 lakh mt paddy procured from over six lakh farmers, Bills to be paid in 10 days: Minister

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said they have procured 35 lakh metric tons of farm produce from six lakh farmers. The payments of 100 per cent bills will be paid online in 10 days, the minister said, adding that the farmers will get MSP.

After a review meeting with officials of civil supplies and agriculture the minister said that the government will make timely payments of bills to the farmers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed to make Yasangi season procurement and bills payment on time he said. As per KCR’s directive the officials were asked to ensure timely online payment of the bills Niaranjan Reddy said. The Minister said that as per estimates around Rs 7000 cr is needed to make payments of the bills during Yasangi seaons. The government has adequate funds to pay bills in 10 days.

As soon as track sheet online is generated, the bills will be deposited into the accounts of the farmers, who sold produce to the government, the minister said. He also maintained that about 35 lakh metric tons of produce was shifted to the godwons. He also expected that the officials assess to get another three to five lakh metric tons of farm produce this season. Due to unseasonal rains, the officials have shifted 34.75 lakh metric tons of produce to mills. He detailed that the Civil Supplies wing has purchased 35.18 lakh metric tons of farm produce from 6,17,189 farmers in the State. The government has instructed the officials from towns, districts and to city level to coordinate for speedy payment of the bills to the farmers.

The minister said the funds were released for the purpose. Information of procurement of paddy and other produce and purchase centers was being provided to farmers on cell phones. He said 3,520 purchase centers were set up across the State and it was estimated to cost around Rs 7,000 crore to make payments of the bills. (NSS)
