468 Drunken Drivers sent to Jail

Hyderabad: The City Traffic Police was continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety. Till February 15they caught February  drivers, who were driving vehicles in drunken condition and produced them in the III andIV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.

The courts concerned awarded imprisonment to 468 offenders and permanently cancelled/suspended driving licenses of 108 persons. The trial courts imposed and realized fine of Rs 38,48,700 from traffic violators. All the violators sentenced for imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda Jail.

Four offenders were imprisoned for 30 days, three for 20 days, two for 15 days, 10 for ten days, three for eight days, eight for seven days, 13 for six days, 52 for five days, 61 for four days, 112 for three days and 200 for two days. Besides, two top violators and for dangerous driving were also jailed for a day. The violators were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive against the drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said. (NSS)
