Adilabad: People of as many as 571 villages in this District were getting drinking water through pipes laid under Mission Bhagiratha scheme launched by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Pipeline was laid for about 850 km across the district and three crore litres of pure potable water is being supplied, and the people are feeling very happy.
People of many tribal thandas said they faced difficulties for over five decades, trekking long distances to fetch a pot of water, and many a time they were getting only dirty water. Earlier, they were not sure when the water tanker would come to their village, and when the tanker came, there were disputes and fights between the people, who were eager to get water. The situation was still worse in summer season. Under the TRS regime, with the Mission Bhagiratha, now they were getting clean potable water at their door steps, as pipes were arranged in all the 571 villages.
