After six years of wait, Jalpally got 2 Basti Dawakhanas

After six years of formation, the Jalpally municipality got two Basti Dawakhanas in the last two days. Spread over an area of 30 square kilometers, this municipality was established in the year 2016 on the city outskirts and was considered as one of the most impoverished urban local body with over one lakh population.

Education Minister P.sabitha Indra Reddy inaugurated the first Basti Dawakhana at Sriram Colony in Ward No.19 on September 20 followed by another opening at Wadi-e-Saleheen in Ward No.10 Today.

The Minister, while addressing the gathering said,  “All kinds of measures are being taken to ensure people get treatment facilities on government run healthcare facilities on  par with corporate hospitals. A total number of 10 basti dawakhanas was approved by the government for Maheshwaram constituency out of which four of them will be established in Jalpally municipality area.

“The government has decided to establish four superspeciality hospitals in city outskirts each at Gaddi Annaram, Medchal, Sanat Nagar and Gachibowli under Maheshwaram and L.B Nagar constituencies by spending Rs.1200 crores. Chief Minister K.Chandrashekher Rao is keenly focusing on providing education as well as health care facilities to the people of Telangana. Moreover, the government is spending Rs.7,000 crores on promoting education through programmes like ‘My Village My School,” she claimed.

However, with a population of over one lakh people in 28 wards, the Jalpally municipality considered as the most backward class urban local body among all the 16 ULBs of the Rangareddy district where public amenities like roads, sewerage system, sanitary and water supply measures and remain distant. In a 28 ward municipality only two of them got basti dawakhana off late while other wards remain bereft of such healthcare facilities.

It is said that, except for an adequate number of graveyards for both the communities, no other facility like hospitals, parks, garbage dumping yard and animal care centers is available to serve the people.
