Akbaruddin Owaisi Criticizes BRS for Unfulfilled Pledges

In a tense budget debate session at the Telangana Legislative Assembly, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the party of failing to keep pledges made to minority populations during its two terms in office.

One of the main complaints raised by Akbaruddin Owaisi was the alleged neglect of the 1600-acre Waqf land of Manikonda Jagir. He claimed that, despite initial support during the Telangana movement, the BRS government shifted its stance after entering power, leaving the problem unsettled for years.

Akbaruddin Owaisi asked that the current Congress-led state administration take quick action to resolve this and other pressing minority-related problems.

The AIMIM leader also called attention to long-standing difficulties that existed during the previous government’s term. The release of scholarship funding, fee refunds, and international scholarship arrears were at the top of the list, and Owaisi requested they be resolved as soon as possible. He advocated granting the Waqf Board judicial authority and organizing a meeting to address ownership claims on Waqf lands, indicating the necessity for comprehensive and fast action.

Expressing unhappiness with the usage of Ramadan funding,Akbaruddin Owaisi accused district collectors of diverting the sanctioned Rs 105 crore to other projects. He demanded accountability from the collectors and the return of the allegedly misappropriated monies.
The AIMIM leader also expressed worries about unfulfilled pledges, such as the pending Rs 25 crore funding for a structure near Haj House. Owaisi advised adapting the Anis Gharba building for public use rather than commercial, highlighting the importance of openness and competent governance.

The passionate debate highlighted the continued challenges that minority communities in Telangana confront, and it urged the state government to take immediate and decisive action to address these concerns. As legislative sessions continue, it is unclear how Akbaruddin Owaisi’s worries will impact the Telangana government’s policies and actions in the following months.
