All arrangements have been made to start purchasing of paddy from farmers, said Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, the Minister said that the paddy crop has been cultivated in about 36 lakh acres across the State and the government expects about 65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the Rabi season.
“There is a need of 15 crore gunny bags for the paddy procurement and right now, 1.60 crore gunny are ready to dispatch. We are trying to arrange the remaining bags as early as possible to the farmers,” Gangula Kamalakar informed.
The Minister also said that the State government is setting up 51 border check posts across the Telangana in a bid to curb the illegal entry of other vehicles laden paddy.
