Andhra beggar found with savings of Rs. 2 lakhs in cash

Amaravati: In a shocking incident, two lakh rupees in cash was found in the ownership of a beggar man in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district. This came to notice when volunteers from a non-governmental organization (NGO) had taken up the mission to give him a makeover.

The man, Chinna Narasimhulu, has been reportedly begging near a mosque in Dhone town simce many years. He was found in possession of Rs. 2,04,459 when the members of the Dronachalam Seva Samithi on Monday, gave him a bath after the haircut and also provided new clothes.

According to a member of the organization, A. Madhu, the 58-year-old beggar had stacks of currency notes in the pockets of his 14 shirts which were found with him. Out of the total amount, Rs 77,000 were in the demonetized currency.

The Samithi then informed the local police officials regarding the cash found in possession of the beggar. The Circle inspector of Dhone town, Subramanyam said their inquiries discovered that Chinna Narasimhulu also known as Seenu is a resident of the Muneppagutta colony in Mahabubnagar of Telangana state.

He reported to the officials that he had separated from his family about 24 years back. His wife and eight months old daughter had shifted to Bengaluru in search of a livelihood. He remained in Andhra Pradesh after they left.

Seenu had been begging in Dhone town from past 16 years. He also told the police that he had been saving up the money for his daughter who was too young when they got separated. He said that he did so in the hope to meet her who would now be 24 years old.

The police official admitted him into an old age home in Kadapa and asked the NGO to open a bank account in Seenu’s name and deposit the money in it.

Dhone police also got in touch with the Mahabubnagar police station officials to find Seenu’s family members in a bid to get them back together.

Beggars turning out to be owners of lakhs of rupees have often done rounds of the news. Last year, a beggar man was found to be a millionaire after he died. The incident took place in Mumbai where police recovered FD slips and gold coins from the house of the beggar. People living in the same slum colony had said that they never expected the beggar to be a millionaire hiding lakhs of cash and coins in his little hut.
