Andhra Pradesh: Jinnah Tower Painted In Tricolors

In the latest update, the notable Jinnah Tower was painted in the national tricolours. The tower which is a city milestone has for some time been buried in the debate over being named in the distinction of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

In an evident bid to control the endeavors to raise the collective pitch, the Guntur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday painted the design in the shades of the Indian banner and raised an iron fencing around the construction.

There have been rehashed requests by Hindu associations and the BJP to rename the tower or destroy it. The most recent such endeavor was made for this present year on January 26, Renational Day, when a gathering attempted to storm the tower and spread out the national banner on it. The state unit of the BJP had presented an update to request that the tower be renamed out of appreciation for previous president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

GMC Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu said that the tower is an image of the opportunity development and that is the justification behind painting it in the tricolors. He reviewed that a goal to rename the tower was dismissed by the GMC in 1966.

The Guntur East MLA Mohammed Musthafa said that the transition to paint the tower in the national tones was made after demands from a few gatherings. He said plans have likewise been made for raising the national banner in the tower’s area.

On January 26, as the country celebrated its Republic Day, the Guntur Police had captured individuals from the Hindu Vahini attempting to spread out the Indian National banner at the ‘Jinnah Circle’ in Guntur. The Hindu Vahini had declared to lift the tricolor on the Jinnah tower in the city, however, the Guntur Police has upset their endeavor while attempting to do as such.

Pressures rose nearby as certain individuals who attempted to climb the Jinnah tower were captured by the police. In the video that arose, the Police is seen utilizing power while controlling individuals with the tricolor in their grasp. It is currently discovered that the police have expanded the security cover to the tower and have added a fence to keep anybody from entering the tower.
