“Andhra project illegal, give us DPR”: Chief Secretary to Centre

Hyderabad : In the wake of Caretaker irrigation Minister T Harish Rao writing to the Centre against the lift irrigation works in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi today wrote another letter seeking detailed project report.

According to the information, Joshi has written a letter to Union Water Resources Minister UP Kumar and complained about the same. He objected that the AP Government was yet to obtain permissions and complete the process by submitting DPR to Krishna River Water Board and Telangana Government. The Chief Secretary appealed to the Centre to make arrangements for the DPR from the AP Government and stall the related works.

It may be said here that Harish Rao registered a plaint with Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari and informed him about violation by the AP Government. The Centre has to take immediate steps against illegal lift works for 40 tmc waters meant for Ananthapur district, he said.

The AP Government has issued a GO in this regard which is a gross violation of AP Reorganization Act norms, Joshi said. KRMB has to refer the project to apex council for according permission and the AP Government has taken up the works of lift works on Tungabhadra. He appealed to UP Kumar to make arrangements for the DPR and stall the works till the entire process was completed. (NSS)
