Announce Kerala wreck as national calamity ; TPS urges PM

Hyderabad: The Centre has to take an urgent call to announce as national calamity the most devastating Kerala floods and rain fury that killed hundreds of people and caused immense loss to life, cattle and properties. This was stated by Telangana Praja Samithi (TPS) President, Neera Kishore today in a statement here. She urged Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to declare rain ravaged Kerala state as a “National Calamity” and provide more financial succor to the state government to intensify relief and rescue measures. Expressing concern at the nature causing wreckage of havoc in Kerala state Neera Kishore said that followed by an aerial survey Modi announced mere Rs 500 cr towards relief and should hike it adequately.

She appreciated that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for swift reaction and offering immediate financial assistance of Rs 25 cr and other help which reached Kerala state as also his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu and other states too following suit. She appealed to politicians, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, businessmen, industrialists, traders and cinema people to offer generously in this regard. (NSS)
