AP CM threatens “save democracy” agitation seeking fair elections

Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrbabu Naidu expressed serious concern over transfer of three police officials, who were not concerned with elections by the Election Commission. He questioned how the Election Commission react immediately basing on the complaint of an alleged economic offender Vijayasai Reddy. He also alleged that the YSR Congress Party has been trying to terrorize officials. He said the transfer of officials, who will not come under EC purview, sends wrong signals.

It may be noted that Intelligence IG AB Venkateswara Rao, Srikakulam SP Venkataratnam and Kadapa SP Rahuldev Sarma were transferred basing on the complaint  lodged by Vijayasai Reddy to Election Commission. The Chief Minister warned that he would launch Save Democracy and Save democratic institutions agitation on the lines of Dharma Porata Deeksha seeking fair elections. He also said though 500 complaints were lodged against removing votes from voters list, the Election Commission failed to take action so far. He said  Modi has to answer all the questions raised by Telugu Desam party. He expressed concern that CM has to come on to road seeking free and fair elections. He was surprised over “misdeeds” of the Opposition YSR Congress party.

Chandrababu Naidu said the AP Govt filed a petition against the transfer of police officials in the High Court.  He said Intelligence DGP will not come under EC purview. He said Intelligence DGP will look after security of Chief Minister. He said the Election Commission should conduct elections in an impartial manner and should not inconvenience a political party with one-sided decisions. He also said some 25 lakh votes were removed during Telangana elections. Now the YSRCP resorted to remove nine  lakh votes from voters list. The Election Commission failed to take action though the  accused were identified. He said the BJP, TRS and YSR Congress Party have been hatching a conspiracy against AP government. (NSS)
