AP will have 12 more districts, Cabinet approved committee

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh will have another 12 districts soon as the Cabinet meeting which was held today at the Secretariat presided by Chief Minister has decided to add the new districts for which it has approved a study committee under the leadership of Chief Secretary.

The Cabinet also resolves to complete the process for the formation of new districts by next year 31st March. New districts would be formed bordering the Parliamentary constituencies.

Chief Minister has initiated the process of formation of the new districts as he promised in the elections. With the government’s new decision, 13 districts will be reorganized and 25 districts will be formed. The cabinet also discussed the formation of 26th Dist.

Deputy CM Pushpa Srivani said that the newly formed Araku district has a large geographical area. CM YS Jagan pointed out that the Araku district area is spread over 4 districts.

In this context, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to study making Araku into two districts. “We are setting up new districts with the aim of developing the backward areas,” he said.
