Arun Jaitley slams Vijay Mallya’s settlement claim, calls it ‘factually false’

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has termed the statement of fugitive industrialist Vijay Mallya as false and said he never gave appointment to Mallya since 2014.

Mr Jaitley response came in the wake of a claim, made to the media by Mallya in London on having met the Finance Minister with an offer of settlement.

Talking to a news agency in New Delhi today, Mr Jaitley said, he never gave him an appointment, neither at his office and nor at his residence.

Mr Jaitley said, Mallya’s statement is factually false. Finance Minister said, Mallya as a Member of Rajya Sabha occasionally attended the House.

He said, Mallya misused this privilege on one occasion, while he was walking out of the House to go to his room.

Mr Jaitley said, Mallya paced up to catch up with him and while walking uttered a sentence that he was making an offer of settlement.

The Minister said, he curtly told Mallya that there was no point talking to me and he must make offers to his bankers.
