As UPA Govt , Modi Govt seizes States’ rights , denies funds : KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today criticized that both the Congress-led UPA and BJP led NDA Governments at the Centre are following the same policies to deny and loot the rights of the states.

The BJP Government is stepping into the shoes of the previous Congress government in the centre by seizing the states’ rights, he alleged.

The two national parties of the congress and the BJP have failed to address the people’s issues at the ground level and denying the rights of the states, he said in the assembly during its session after a debate on Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi.  He accused the Modi Government of adopting anti-development policies as was the case with the UPA Regime. The Centre cut the development funds to the states by about 25 per cent and says to give funds from Delhi for rural development through several schemes. If that is so, what for the state governments, municipalities and village panchayats in the country, he thundered.

He cited that the Modi regime did not give funds for development although the centre informed the parliament that Telangana is only the state free from fluoride problem in the country. The CM claimed that RBI has informed that the new state is one among the top four states that are contributing for national development, he claimed. We are contributing to national development and the Centre is giving us less refund as devolution after taking more as taxes, he averred.

While Centre per capita income is just four per cent, Telangana per capita income is 649, the chief minister said and claimed that the state is surplus and on a growth path. He said that Hyderabad city, a world-class metro city was developed in more than 400 years and by successive governments and we urged the Centre to give funds for its development in vain.
KCR flayed that the TD Chief Chandrababu Naidu once claimed that he built Hyderabad which is not correct as it was developed in a phased manner by the involvement of all the governments.

I repeatedly appealed to the Modi Government and then Union Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu who is now vice president of the country, to offer Rs 50,000 cr to Rs 60,000 cr for rapid and continuous development of metro cities including Hyderabad and others. KCR alleged that the Centre has been duping the people by increasing taxes, cutting the funds allocation and denying development.

The Centre which presents about Rs 30 lakh crores a year can divulge funds to this extent, KCR said. When I appealed, Modi listened patiently and failed to take steps to offer at least giving Rs 10,000 cr initially from the centre and ask the states to contribute the same amount to develop the metro cities with facilities and infrastructure.

The Modi government in the centre receives huge funds from us and gives less besides denying funds and several projects to the state despite repeated appeals and not being ready to procure our food grains.
