Attack on Jagan Case Hearing Adjourned to Tuesday

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday heard the proceedings of the writ petition filed by Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in the  case relating to the murderous attempt on him in Visakhapatnam.

The Court asked the Attorney General to submit the Special Investigative Team’s (SIT) progress in the probe in a seal cover, and  adjourned the hearing to Tuesday. After hearing Jagan’s lawyer, CV Mohan Reddy’s arguments, the Court enquired on the doubts raised on the credibility of the AP Police investigation. It was argued that the AP government and the State police were playing down the intensity of the case, the lawyer said that the investigation was being carried out by lower-rung employees. Saying that the government did not react properly to the attack on the Opposition leader, he asserted that YS Jagan would have lost his life had the knife slit in his neck area.

Requesting the Court to order a free and fair probe by an independent investigative agency,  Jagan’s lawyer said there was a conspiracy behind the murder attempt. “DGP Thakur and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu tried to divert the case in the wrong direction,” he said to the Court explaining Chandrababu’s comments after the attack.(NSS)
