Australia Immunisation Group Recommends AstraZeneca For Netizens Above 60 Years

AstraZeneca has been under the radar from various countries and many of them have recommended the same for the older generations. At the same time, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised the same for people above the age of 60 years.

Adults Up To 59 Years of Age Will Be Offered Pfizer Vaccine 

As per the latest reports, adults up to the age of 59 years of age will be provided with Pfizer Covid 19 vaccine, informed Health Minister Greg Hunt on Thursday.

Hunt then released a statement and said that the experts at ATAGI have updated their advice and have recommended that the Pfizer vaccine should be given to the adults under the age of 59 years of age.

At the same time, the ATAGI is clear that the AstraZeneca vaccine is highly effective in preventing many other diseases caused by the Covid 19. He added that updated advice is based on new evidence that demonstrates that there is a higher risk for a very rare condition called Thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS).

AstraZeneca Is Recommended For Netizens Above 60 Years 

The minister further clarified that AstraZeneca is recommended for the people of the age 60 years and above. The aim is to lower their risk of developing the TTS condition as they are more vulnerable to the same. Along with the Covid 19 related deaths.

Despite the change, Hunt informed that the rollout of vaccines across the country is on track and by the end of 2021 every Australian will be vaccinated with the first dose at least.

ATAGI’s decision comes 12 new cases of TTS were identified last week which also led to clotting in some people. Following which, Paul Kelly, the Chief Medical Officer advices people to take the second dose of AstraZeneca if they haven’t faced any adverse effects.
