Awareness program on sexual harassment held at Ravindra Bharati

Hyderabad: The Police department, under the aegis of She Teams, today organised an awareness program on sexual harassment against women at Ravindra Bharati here. On the occasion, the organizers enacted drama on the precautions to be taken in regard to rogues.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, Transport principal secretary Sunil Sharma and sports woman Naina Jaiswal attended the program. Speaking on the occasion, Anjani Kumar said security of women was very important. Hyderabad was one among the safe cities across the world, he said and opined that there was more responsibility on everyone to transform Hyderabad more safe city.

Committing crime was a mistake and big mistake was to remain silent while seeing the crime, he stated. Dial 100 will help a lot, he said and informed that Dial 100 was getting 5,000 calls every day. He made it clear that they will land at the scene within five minutes after a call to Dial 100. Some 65 police stations in Hyderabad city were receiving 15 calls each every day, he said and told that they were reviewing the work culture of police stations and moving ahead towards friendly policing.

Anjani Kumar said there was police in every person and everyone has to extend their cooperation for the society development and for controlling the crime. He suggested to the women to use hack eye application when they were in danger. The women have to take precautionary measures and remain alert at crime, he opined and said that CC Cameras were playing key role in protecting the law and order. The police were identifying the criminals immediately through CC Cameras. It was good development that the women were showing interest to join Police department, he said, adding that the She Teams’ work was praise worthy in controlling harassment against women. (NSS)
