Balapur and Pahadi Shareef witnessed rise in crime rate

Crime rate under Balapur and Pahadi Shareef police station limits on the city outskirts witnessed a two fold rise during the year 2022 compared to the year 2021. This, despite the measures like fixing CCTV cameras at different strategic locations spending crores of public money, apart from carrying out cardon searches and regular vehicle checkings under Rachakonda Commissionerate.

These police stations cover mainly the Jalpally area on the city outskirts known as an epicenter of crime like murders for gain, land grabbing on government lands and water bodies besides small syndicates involved in carrying settlements between two varying parties.

“Apart from sensational murder cases, kidnapping and cheating cases have increased two fold in Balapur police station limits,” according to statistics secured from the police. As against the zero murder cases in the year 2021, the Balapur PS registered three murder cases in the year 2022. Rape cases under  Protection of Children from sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, too registerd an increase from 14 in 2021 to 18 in 2022.

Similarly, kidnapping cases jumped to 23 in the year 2022 as against 13 registered a year earlier.  Ordinary theft cases too increased from 53 to 64 durung the same period.  Apart from this cheating cases also witnessed a two fold increase with 82 cases registered in the year 2022 as against 44 cases registered a year earlier.

Fatal road accidents cross the previous mark with 11 such mishaps were reported in 2022 as against 10 cases registered a year earlier in the PS limits. Apart from this, missing cases jumps to 94 in 2022 as against 79 being reported in 2021.

In cases related to property loss, the Balapur police registered a loss of property to the tune of Rs.50,01,400 in the year 2022 of which it recovered Rs.24,75,000. The previous year data shows a poetry loss of Rs.42,32,090 while the police managed to recover Rs.20,90,890. In all, the Balapur PS registered  a total number of 461 cases in 2022 as against 335 cases registered in 2021.

However, Pahadi Shareef PS somewhat fared well atleast in checking the serious crimes like murders. As against the six murder and one murder for gain case registered last year, the Pahadi Shareef PS saw only one murder case in 2022.

However, ordinary theft cases went up to 131 last year from mere 40 registered in 2021. Apart from this, 25 kidnapping cases were registered in 2022 as against 17 in 2021. Though the rape cases drops down to 5 last year from 6 a year earlier, the cheating cases saw a significant increase with 75 cases registered in Pahadi Shareef in the year 2022 as against 75 in 2021. In all, the pahadi shareef PS limits registered a total 591 cases in 2022 as against 404 in 2021.
