Balloon burst in birthday party, 4 kids injured

In Belathur, Bengaluru, a birthday celebration took a tragic turn on Saturday night around 9:30 PM when helium balloons burst upon coming into contact with a live wire, resulting in burns for four children and an adult. The injured individuals include Vijay Aditya Kumar, an employee at HAL, along with his 3-year-old daughter Sohila, and 7-year-old son Dhyan Chand. Additionally, their neighbors Ishan (2) and Sanjay (8) were also affected by the incident.

The unfortunate incident occurred while preparations were underway at Vijay’s residence, where helium balloons were being arranged for his daughter’s birthday celebration on the terrace. As the balloons were being moved, they accidentally brushed against an electric wire, leading to a sudden explosion.

Prompt action from nearby neighbors allowed for the injured individuals to be swiftly transported to Victoria Hospital. Fortunately, all five of them are reported to be in stable condition, according to the police.

An initial suspicion by the authorities suggests that the balloons might have been filled with hydrogen gas, as helium is generally considered non-flammable.

In a separate incident in Sargur taluk, Mysuru, tragedy struck when a family of three, originally from Bengaluru, drowned in a canal on Saturday evening. The unfortunate event unfolded in Changowdanahalli village within the taluk. The victims have been identified as Mohammad Kapil (42), his wife Shavara Banu (35), and their 18-year-old daughter Shahira Banu. The family had been residing in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar area and had traveled to their native place to attend the final rites of a relative. These two incidents serve as poignant reminders of the unforeseen tragedies that can occur in everyday life.
