BC leaders stage Maha dharna against BC quota cut

Hyderabad: Several BC organizations from the State on Thursday organized a Maha Dharna protesting the decision of the State government to reduce BC reservations from existing 34 percent to 23 percent for the upcoming panchayat elections.

President of Telangana BC Welfare Association Jajula Srinivas Goud, senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, former chairman of National BC Commission Justice Eswaraiah, Telangana TDP president L. Ramana, BJP State chief Dr K. Laxman, CLP leader in Telangana Legislative Council Shabbir Ali, TPCC former chief Ponnala Laxmaiah took part in it.

Speaking on the occasion, BC association president Srinivas Goud alleged that CM KCR-led  State government was taking revenge against from BCs, who have voted for the TRS party in the just-concluded Assembly elections. He said the State government had issued the ordinance by reducing the BC reservations from 34 percent to 23 percent in the State. He demanded that the State government show a permanent solution to the BC reservation issue within 24 hours.

Senior Congress leader VH said he would not keep mum on the issue and would continue the fight with the State government and was even ready to sacrifice his life on the issue. He demanded that the BC MLAs from the TRS party raise their voice on the issue. Former TPCC chief Ponnala Laxmaiah termed the decision of the CM as laughable and demanded immediate revocation of the ordinance. (NSS)
