BJP holds womens’ bike rally as part of “Hyderabad Liberation Day” celebrations

As part of its ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ celebrations, the Bhartiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha organized an all-women bike rally on Thursday from the Bhagya Laxmi temple at Charminar.

The rally was attended by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. Women workers of the Bhartiya Janata Party women’s wing gathered near the 431-year-old monument constructed by Hyderabad’s founder, Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, wearing saffron attire.

BJP Mahila Morcha President Geetha Krishna Murthy planned the rally following the BJP central leadership’s announcement of programs marking “Hyderabad Liberation Day”.

After covering 16 kilometers, the rally will pass through Charminar, Gulzar House, Madina building, Afzalgunj Library, Rangmahal – Chaderghat, Koti, Ramkoti, King Koti, YMCA Narayanguda, RTC Crossroads, Musheerabad, Secunderabad, Parade Grounds, Begumpet, Ameerpet- Panjagutta, Khairtabad, Lakidikapul, and end at the Sardar Patel statue in Saifabad.

All arrangements are being made for the event by the police. For the entire year, the BJP planned events in Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra to celebrate “Hyderabad State Liberation Day”.

It comes as no surprise that in order to capitalize on the historical events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government is organizing a year-long commemoration of Hyderabad Liberation Day starting September 17.

It is also expected that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the meeting. Hyderabad, run by its Nizam, Osman Ali Khan, was annexed to India on that date in 1948.

The union culture minister G Kishan Reddy invited the chief ministers of Telangana (K. Chandrashekhar Rao), Maharashtra, and Karnataka as guests of honor for the inaugural event of “Hyderabad Liberation Day.” The Nizam’s Hyderabad princely state included the entire state, five districts of Maharashtra, and three districts of Karnataka.

Ironically, the BJP didn’t exist when Operation Polo annexed Hyderabad with the military offensive. As a matter of fact, Telangana was mainly under the control of the Communist Party of India (CPI). After negotiations with the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, the Centre sent the Indian army on September 13.

National Integration Day versus Hyderabad Liberation Day

While the BJP-led central government and saffron party leaders in both the Center and Telangana refer to it as “Hyderabad Liberation Day,” the TRS-led Telangana government refers to it as “National Integration Day.”

Previously, the Telangana cabinet decided to host a grand opening ceremony for the “Vajrotsavalu of Telangana National Integration” on September 16, 17, and 18, 2022.
