BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ is turning turtle even in UP: Alok Joshi

Reacting over the war of words between Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and the state BJP leaders over horse trading in Uttar Pradesh, the renowned Journalist Alok Joshi said “No doubt the BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ is fully active in whole country so as practised even in Uttar Pradesh similar the way they did with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. They are trying to dislodge the opposition governments wherever they are found in the country.”

While taking part in a debate on a news channel over Akhilesh Yadav’s War of Words with BJP leaders  in UP over, he said, “The Samajwadi Party has emerged as a formidable force after the recently held elections in Uttar Pradesh. This has actually raised concern for the ruling BJP. Despite the poll debacle, the SP, no doubt, is emerging stronger in UP and it was proved by the poll results while the BJP is gradually sweeping under the carpet.”

“The clap back of Akhilesh Yadav that his party will make chief minister anyone from BJP if he brought 100 MPs into SP’s fold is nothing but a tite-for-tate response to BJP. His reaction comes only after BJP’s bragging that 100 MPs of SP are in its contact. This is something called reverse Operation Lotus being in play by the Samajwadi Party,” argued Joshi.

Contradicting what Joshi has said about SP’s improvement in UP, another participant P.Sheetal Singh, also a senior Journalist said, “Akhilesh needs to play field politics if he really wants to make a strong platform in UP against the ruling BJP which is lacking for now. Even he appeared to be failing in uniting the opposition.”

Akhilesh Yadav, he said, need to work with people from Dalit and backward class communities. Also his role is missing in some communities like Lodhe Rajput and Gangwaars of the state. He should take advantage of the situation created by Nitish Kumar in Bihar. Atleast he has to display himself in practical politics to create a flatter in UP for BJP. “If he fails to do any of the said things and utilise the opportunities to counter the BJP, there is no much role left for him in the politics except the war of words that hold no worth in active politics,” Singh contended.
