Nagarkurnool: The body of a woman aged around 40 years was found in a decomposed condition between Eegalapenta and Vatvarlapally villages of Amrabad Mandal, near Srisilam Highway yesterday.
Police officials said that the forest officials of Domalapenta range, who were engaged in combing operations in the Nallamala forest area, had informed the police about the body of a woman found inside the forest. A bag was also found near the crime scene. Police suspect that the woman, identified as Shantha Ravi Mudaliyar, a native of Mumbai, was lured by some unsocial elements who raped her and then killed her.
Police said that some devotees from Karnataka take this forest route during Shivratri season to walk, to visit the famous Akka Mahadevi temple before heading to Srisailam.
