Cabinet Approves Mass Media Cooperation For Better Innovations and Information Distribution

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval on Cooperation in the field of Mass Media. The aim is to provide mutually beneficial cooperation amongst associations in the field of Mass Media.

Union Cabinet Encourages Best Practices and New Innovations In Mass Media 

As per the latest reports, the agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Mass Media between the member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization has received approval from the Union Cabinet.

The agreement was signed in June, 2019. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that the agreement will promote equal and mutually beneficial cooperation among associations. Each side shall facilitate each other by ensuring equity. This would allow the member states to share best practices and new innovations. The ministry further aims to promote creation of favourable conditions for a wide and mutual distribution of information in Mass media.

The agreement will also promote cooperation among the editorial offices of the mass media of their States, as well as among the relevant Ministries, Agencies and Organizations working in the field of the mass media, specific conditions and forms of which shall be determined by the participants themselves, including through conclusion of separate agreements.

The Agreement Aims To Help In Distribution of Materials and Information 

Ratification of the agreement is aimed to assist in the broadcasting of Television and radio programs. The distribution of information and materials is encouraged to be distributed equally.

Ratification of an agreement will provide equal and mutually beneficial cooperation among professional associations of journalists of the States in order to study the available professional experience, as well as to hold meetings, seminars and conferences in the field of mass media.

The Ministry said that the ratification of an agreement will further encourage exchanging of experience and the specialists in the field of mass media. Further providing mutual assistance in training media professionals.
