California Wildfires Move To National Park; Authorities Issue Immediate Evacuation

As the wildfires continue to haunt California, the Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California has been forced to close as the fires have exploded in the region.

 35 Percent Of The Fire Has Been Contained

As per the latest reports, the fire is fast moving, the dubbed Dixie Fire. It is currently active in the remote eastern side of Lassen Volcanic National Park. In a recent release, the park officials confirmed the emergency closure was in place for the entire park.

The Dixie Fire was reported to be at 322,502 acres. And out of this 35 percent of the fire has been contained as per Thursday morning. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection confirmed.

The Superintendent of the park, Jim Richardson said that temporary closure will ensure that the firefighters have an uninterrupted access to all the areas across the park. He further added that the park’s current priorities are to ensure the immediate evacuation of the visitors and the protect the facilities around the park highway area. Especially, in the Manzanita Lake and the Mineral Headquarters areas.

Largest Fire In California This Year Has Become The Sixth Biggest In The History

The fire started on July 13 and since then it has burned through multiple countries in Northern California. It is the largest wildfire so far in 2021 and has become the sixth biggest in history. It grew to 50,000 acres overnight.

On Wednesday night, Greenville, a small mountain town in the region was devastated by the massive wildfire. The area is home to around 1000 residents across 230km northeast of the state capital.

Authorities in multiple Northern California counties have issued new mandatory evacuations and new warnings to urge the residents to evacuate immediately. Officials said that over 12,400 structures were threatened by the fire and around 4800 fire fighters are battling the blaze.
