Caretaker KCR govt spying on Oppn leaders: Shabbir

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir today charged the caretaker TRS government with “terrorizing” the Opposition leaders and workers by foisting police cases and pressurized them to join the ruling party for electoral gains in the ensuing Assembly polls.

Speaking to the media today at Gandhi Bhavan, Shabbir quoted several instances of intimidating Opposition leaders and workers in his Kamareddy Assembly constituency. Shabbir said he was shocked to know that the State Intelligence personnel were tapping his cell Phone No 99487 11111 since the last two to three days and recording the conversations. He said as per Article 21 of the Constitution, “No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by the law and if done in an unauthorized manner, it would attract prosecution of the person responsible for breach of privacy.

Shabbir Ali said earlier also he received threatening calls even after filing a case in the Jubilee Hills Police station. But there was no action at the behest of the ruling party. He also said there was a threat from extremists in his constituency in Nizamabad District, where Maoists attacked people twice in the past and in one attack five persons were killed. He urged the Governor to advise the caretaker government to stop phone tapping of Opposition leaders and protect democracy in the State.

Shabbir Ali demanded that the TRS and MIM clarify jointly whether they are in support of the Ordinance on Triple Talaq or against it like several States including AP CM. (NSS)
