Central Hospital, Lallaguda – Silent warriors of COVID-19

Delivery of Medicines to both Serving & Retired Railway beneficiaries at their residence

Hyderabad: South Central Railway has been at the forefront in rendering best possible medical care services to the employees during the prevailing situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. As a part of these efforts to provide the best services, SCR under the leadership of  Gajanan Mallya has initiated the supply of essential medicines to the staff and retired employees at their doorsteps.

As per the directions of  Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, the medical department of South Central Railway under the guidance of Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Principal Chief Medical Director, SCR, the team of Doctors and staff of Central Hospital, Lallaguda, under the leadership of Dr. C.K. Venkateswarlu, Medical Director making all possible efforts to supplement the Health Care needs during the present pandemic times. As a part of this, a scheme to supply the routine medicines at the doorsteps of retired and serving employees was introduced with effect from  April 18. Delivery of medicines is being done through the available volunteers of Scouts & Guides. The scheme will help the railway beneficiaries in particular retired railway personnel (Sr. Citizens) to remain at home, and avoid travel to the central hospital for taking regular medicines.

The retired employees and their families are being issued medicines, which will suffice for two months and will be delivered at their residence while serving employees are being issued medicines up to a one-month requirement. So far over 1500 beneficiaries ailing with various chronic diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac and other health problems have got benefited. The requests from the retired/serving employees and their families are being received through WhatsApp and after scrutiny by Dr. N. Ramesh, Chief Staff Surgeon-II, assisted by  Leela Sivamurthy, Asst. Nursing Officer and  Ratna Mala, Chief Pharmacist for supplying appropriate medicines through the field volunteers to the doorsteps of the Railway Health Beneficiaries residing in and around twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in the vicinity of 30 square kilometers.

Gajanan Mallya, has stated that the initiative will save both the time and risks involved in commuting to the Railway Hospitals for the railway beneficiaries in the present epidemic situation.
