Amaravati: The Centre has today filed an affidavit in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on the issue of AP capital Amravati and asserted that the issue is in the purview of the State Government, it has no role to play.

Petitioner Mr. PV Krishnaiah had recently filed a petition in the State High Court alleging that the issue of setting up capital was within the vicinity of the Center, prompt to this claim, the  Court had directed the Central Government to furnish the complete details before the Court. The Centre today filed an affidavit as per the directions of the High Court and revealed its stand.

It may be recalled the various petitions filed by the several parties are pending in the state High court over the capital row. The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the process for the three capitals of the state which is opposing by the people of the Amravati and principle opposition TDP. While supporting the cause of the farmers the Telugu Desam party has stopped the passage of the decentralization of the state Capital Amravathi and repealing of Capital Region Development Authority bill in the Andhra Pradesh legislative council where it has a majority. State   Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan recently approved the bill approving three capitals for AP and another one repealing the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Act. It brings mega relief to the ruling YSR Congress and delivers a big jolt to the Telugu Desam (TD) and other Opposition parties which had been fighting for the Capital at Amaravati.

The ryots who have handed over their lands to then Chandra Babu Naidu led the TDP government has started a movement against the incumbent government initiative to decentralize the Capital and hold a series of agitation programs. The peasants claimed that the existing YSR Government is not doing justice with them. On the other hand, the actor turned Pawan Kalyan led Janasena Party has recently announced that the time comes to approach the court in this issue.
