Challenges Mount for Kishan Reddy in Amberpet Constituency

The Amberpet constituency in Telangana is witnessing a turbulent period for Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy. The former BJP city unit president, Venkata Reddy, along with his wife, BJP Bagh Amberpet corporator Padma, has delivered an unexpected blow to the BJP by joining the BRS.

Additionally, BJP leaders in Secunderabad are expressing their dissatisfaction with Kishan Reddy unilateral approach to leadership. Senior members of the BJP argue that Kishan Reddy has failed to secure nominated positions for seasoned party members and appears more focused on his personal advancement than on nurturing other leaders. This discontent with Kishan Reddy conduct has been brewing among BJP leaders in Amberpet and within his Lok Sabha constituency for some time.

Critics accuse Kishan Reddy of sidelining long-standing party members in favor of promoting leaders from his own community. Many within the party rank and file feel ignored and believe that Kishan is obstructing the progress of leaders whom he does not favor.

Kishan Reddy had made promises to the Gangaputra community, which played a significant role in his previous electoral success, pledging to secure a party ticket for them. However, he failed to fulfill this promise, leading to disappointment among the Gangaputra community members in Amberpet, who constitute a substantial portion of the constituency’s voters. Consequently, a Gangaputra leader has decided to run as an Independent candidate in Amberpet.

Furthermore, BJP leaders have expressed their displeasure at Kishan Reddy frequent absences from the region, spending most of his time in New Delhi and becoming increasingly inaccessible to them. Party insiders suggest that Kishan often associates with affluent individuals, while ordinary party workers feel neglected.

Sources indicate that Venkata’s departure from the BJP was prompted by Kishan Reddy manner of functioning. It is reported that Kishan Reddy made Venkata wait for hours without granting him an appointment, ultimately failing to provide him with a nominated position or a role in the state executive.
