Chandrababu Naidu joins Muslims in offering EID prayers

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today joined Muslims in offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. Wearing a skull cap, Naidu stood along with Muslims and offered Eid ‘namaz’ at Indira Gandhi Municipal Grounds here.

The Chief Minister greeted the Muslim leaders and common people on the occasion of Eid, which marks culmination of holy month of Ramadan. Addressing the gathering later, the Chief Minister conveyed his greetings to the Muslims in Urdu. He said Muslims observed the fast during the month for the well-being of the mankind. He said he prayed to the Almighty Allah for all help to the State and for prosperity and happiness of the people.

Chandrababu Naidu said his government was giving top priority to maintaining communal harmony in the State. He recalled that the TDP was the first party to oppose Triple Talaq Bill. He also said an amount of Rs 1,100 crore was allocated in the State budget for the uplift of Minorities in the State. Chandrababu Naidu also that 25 residential schools for Minorities would be set up soon in the State.

When the Muslims questioned the Chief Minister as to why his government was not reconstructing a mosque, which was razed to the ground on the Ramavarappadu road, Chandrababu Naidu assured them that the mosque would be constructed within a year.

In Kadapa, the YSRCP leaders MLA Srikanth Reddy, party minority leaders joined the Id prayers in the Idgah at Rayachoti town. They participated in prayers along with the Muslim brethren. (NSS)
