“China is a bigger problem than Pakistan”- 68.3% Indians.

New Delhi: According to a survey conducted by IANS, the majority, 68.3 percent of the Indian citizens take China as a much bigger issue for India compared to the age-old rival, Pakistan.

The CVoter Snap Poll was carried out amid the increasing tension between the countries after their violent face-off in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. With news emerging of China having occupied a part of India, the PM rubbished the rumours calling it false and baseless, further clarifying that no portion of India has been captured by any country.

As far as the poll is concerned, the rest of respondents who accounted for 31.7 percent, still believe Pakistan to be far greater in terms of a threat and problem to India than China.

The deviation from the typical mentality and thoughts of Indians to perceive Pakistan as their primary enemy comes after the clash with China and the grave loss India has suffered in the shape of the death of its soldiers.

With a sample size of more than 10,000, the snap poll draws light on the awakening of Indians to changed circumstances, giving them a reality check regarding the happenings in India.

Twenty Indian soldiers, including an officer, got martyred on Monday night during a violent clash with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army troops at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh region. These are the first casualties faced by Indian Army in a clash with the Chinese soldiers since 1975 when an Indian patrol was ambushed in Arunachal Pradesh

After this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a stern and clear statement to China, saying that India won’t be tolerating anyrough actions when it comes to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Getting vocal about India’s straight policy regarding this, the Prime Minister, in virtual presence of a group of Chief Ministers, said: “I would like to assure the nation that the sacrifice of our jawans will not be in vain. For us, the unity and sovereignty of the country are important. India wants peace but when instigated, India is capable of giving a befitting reply

The snap poll seem to show the nation’s views against China. Not only has the government been trying to curtail Chinese FDI inflow into the country, but the RSS too have decided to spearhead a nationwide campaign asking to boycott Chinese products.

Videos showing people throwing their china-made goods from their balconies and stamping on them have been doing the rounds on social media. With some supporting this act, most of the people have advised everyone from not harming their already bought items but to rather stop buying Chinese products in the future.
